Session 6: Fortini/Cani (Fortini/Dogs) + Toute révolution est un coup de dés (Every Revolution Is a Throw of the Dice)
Presentation: Santos Zunzunegui
Focus: Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet. Session 6 (93’). *Notice: The following film may have some particularities in the subtitles. Some phrases or fragments would have no subtitles at all. This is not a mistake. It follows the way that Straub and Huillet wanted their films to be subtitled.
Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, Italy, , 1976 83', OV with Spanish subtitles, DCP
The impulse for this film comes from the reading of the communist and anti-Zionist pamphlet "Il cani del sinai", written by Florentine poet Franco Fortini shortly after the Six Day War. The filmmakers were not so interested in the anti-imperialist argument as much as in the criticism of Italy's past dealt with in the text with such great ferocity.
