Milagros Mumenthaler is a Swiss-Argentine director based in Buenos Aires.
Her debut feature, Abrir puertas y ventanas (2011), premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, where it won the Golden Leopard for Best Film and the Leopard for Best Actress, among other awards.
With this first feature, Mumenthaler began exploring the representation of the intimate—a theme she would later investigate more freely, incorporating associative editing, in her film about memory, La idea de un lago (2015).
Her third film, Las corrientes , premiered in 2025 in the Platform competition at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) and competed for the Golden Shell at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
An exploration of subjectivity and the complexities of familial relationships is evident across all three of her feature films.
She is currently developing her next film.
