The Podcast Geltokia festival will take place at Tabakalera from Thursday 28 to Saturday 30 May, transforming the International Centre for Contemporary Culture into a meeting point for creators, producers, platforms and audiences interested in the world of contemporary audio.
\n\nOver the course of three days, the festival will explore some of the most relevant trends in today’s sound ecosystem through masterclasses, round tables, live podcasts, guided listening sessions and presentations of new productions. The programme will combine professional activities with events open to the general public, strengthening the connection between creation, industry and audiences.
\n\nThe programme will open with a clear commitment to supporting emerging talent through a masterclass and mentoring sessions as part of Audiogile Berriak, an initiative promoted by Tabakalera and EITB. Led by Isabel Cadenas, the masterclass will focus on the creative process behind De eso no se habla, one of the most acclaimed recent non-fiction audio productions. The opening day will also feature the official presentation of Tres Lágrimas, a new audio fiction produced by EITB’s streaming platform GUAU, alongside a guided listening session with members of the creative team and a live performance by actress Angela López and soundtrack composer Rafa Rueda.
\n\nFriday’s programme will focus on reflection around audio creation and industry, with sessions dedicated to the rise of the docupodcast as a narrative and social tool, the development of Basque-language audio fiction, and the possibilities for stories born in audio to expand into other formats such as animation, graphic novels and audiovisual productions. Professionals linked to projects and organisations including La No Ficción, Doble Condena, EITB, ULU Media and Lera Estudioa will take part.
\n\nThe programme will also include several live podcasts and public presentations, among them Ispilu Beltza by Donostia Kultura; Ganbara Negra, Benetan Zabiz? and SONA by GUAU; as well as the premiere of Tucán Air, a new audio sitcom co-produced by ULU Media and La No Ficción, set aboard a transatlantic flight between Madrid and Bogotá.
\n\nOn Saturday, Podcast Geltokia will focus on new audiences and the potential of audio as a cultural and educational tool for children and young people. The day will begin with the presentation of the children’s audio fiction Lula otsoa, in a free session at Tabakalera’s Parque space, and will conclude with a lecture by Julio Rojas on creativity and artificial intelligence applied to audio fiction, opening up a reflection on the challenges and possibilities facing the future of the sector.
