The international call for artistic residencies for 2020 has been awarded
Tabakalera has publicly announced the result of the call for proposals for artist residencies in 2020. Lisa Tan, Estanis Comella, Mikel Escobales Castro, Milena Rossignoli, Manu Muniategiandikoetxea and Laura Maioz will take up the residencies that will be held between September and December 2020 in Tabakalera.
Tabakalera has publicly announced the result of the call for proposals for residencies in 2020, for which a total of 242 proposals were submitted. In the three types of call the jury members have been June Crespo (artist), Itziar Okariz (artist) and Ángel Calvo-Ulloa (curator and writer) in addition to the representatives from the Contemporary Art department of Tabakalera.
The aim of this call is to offer a residency to contribute to the production of artistic projects, regardless of the artistic discipline and format.
For their development in 2020, the projects chosen are those by Lisa Tan (New York, USA) and Open Source X Data by Estanis Comella (Lleida). The residencies will last four to twelve weeks and will take place from September to December 2020.
The objective of this call for proposals is to enable an artist or cultural agent living in the Basque Autonomous Community to invite an artist or cultural agent from elsewhere to develop a joint artistic project. One project will be selected from among those submitted to the call.
Those chosen for 2020, with their project Miracle, are Mikel Escobales Castro (Aretxabaleta, Gipuzkoa) and Milena Rossignoli (Quito, Ecuador).
The residency will last four to eight weeks and will take place between September and December 2020.
The main objective of this programme is to develop an artistic process which addresses the diversity arising from being in different generational segments of the population.
The proposal chosen for this call was that submitted by Manu Muniategiandikoetxea (Bergara, Gipuzkoa) and Laura Maioz (Hondarribia, Gipuzkoa).
In this case the residency will also last four to eight weeks and will take place between September and December 2020.
All residencies will take place in Tabakalera’s facilities in San Sebastián. Tabakalera will provide the necessary space, context and time.
Support for the artist community
Through this programme, Tabakalera wishes to support the development of artistic projects, in addition to reinforcing the local network of artists and exchanges between artist communities.
They are promoted by the Tabakalera Artist's Space, whose main objective is to support the professionalisation of artists and/or cultural agents. For this purpose, this space provides resources for artistic creation (loan of spaces, technical and human resources, residency programmes) and provides a support and visibility programme for artistic practices, in addition to offering information and advice about administrative matters, grants and external calls for proposals.
